Diaz, who studied public relations at university, chose music as a hobby. But that all changed when he met famous reggaeton producer VÃctor âTunesâ Cabrera of Luny Tunes, who then introduced him to Tainy.
âMy first single was produced by Tainy,â he says of âChicas de la Isla,â released in 2012. âIt went viral in Puerto Rico because it mentions a lot of the island’s slang and of our people.
Today, Diaz is on the NEON16 management list headed by Latin Grammy-winning producer and musical director Lex Borrero. âI have fallen into a number of bad situations throughout my career,â he admits. âTainy and I have many similarities and I feel very privileged about this opportunity. “
His Yandel-assisted track “Lo Que Te Duele”, released Thursday, October 29, follows his collaborations with Cazzu in “Deportivo” and Sebastian Yatra in “A Donde Van”.
âFull Harmony and I developed the song and it took me out of my comfort zone,â he notes. âWe sent him to Yandel and in no time he sent his worms back. Tainy also added her flow to the track.
Although Diaz has been in the game since the age of 14, 2020 has become a milestone year in his career. âI have lots of ideas and new proposals,â he says. âMy music is different and progressive, but with seasonings. I make art, that’s what I do.
Learn more about this week’s Latin artist on the climb below:
Name: Jorge Alvaro Diaz
Age: 31
Major achievement: âYandel’s humility is impressive and he is an example to follow. I still can’t believe I have a song with him. It is the biggest achievement of my career so far. Listening to Yandel say my name at the end of the song was epic. I even hugged him!
Recommended song: “Lo Que Te Duele”
And after: âIn November or December, I want to release my mixtape with about 17 songs titled Dias Antes, which I have been working on for some time. The concept is to show off the five different sides of Alvarito with trap music, reggaeton and more. During my forties, I also worked on another album called Felicilandia, which I hope will be released in 2021.
